Longitudinally welded steel tubes

Barteling Buizen BV delivers a wide range of different longitudinally welded tubes in a wide veriety of dimensions, wall thicknesses and characteristics from stock, from selected rolling mills. Longitudinally welded steel tubes are produced from an unrolled flate plate or coil. The diameter is determined by the width of the plate. During this process the plate is first cut to the correct width, then it is rolled out into a tube or pipe. When producing the   longitudinally welded steel tube, the flat plate is rolled into a round tube and welded at a high frequency (HFI), with only one longitudinal seam. Depending on the diameter and wall thickness, this high speed welding production technique makes it easy to profuce 100 metres of tubes with ease.
Available as a construction tube according to EN10219 or as a pipe according to EN10217. Also available as an API 5L with all kinds of characteristics. The EN10217 has internal and external slivered welds, are pressure tested, and are used as pipes. The old standard for construction tubes is DIN2458/1615 and DIN 2458/1626 for pipes.

Longitudinally welded steel tubes are mostly cold formed according to EN10219 or EN10217. These longitudinally welded tubes can also be warm formed according to EN10210. This warm version means less tension in the tube, which benefits such things as the welding process and the homogeneity of the material. When producing the tube, more energy is needed to deform the material, and this results in a higher end product price.

We deliver the following types of steel from stock: S355J0H / P355J2H as S235JRH or P355TR1. We can provide many other kinds of steel on request.

When dealing with small diameters, no external material is added, but the tube is fused together using its own plate material and high frequency welding into so-called ERW tubes. ERW stands for Electrical Resistace Welding. Producers are more and more capable of producing ERW tubes with larger diameters. When dealing with a larger range, producers often plane the external and internal welds. This makes the longitudinal seam/ weld bead almost invisible and hard to feel. Which can be an advantage when placing elements on the inside of the tube as is the case with sealing plates, bearings or sealing rings. It is also ideal for roller conveyors and transport rollers.
